3/17/20 - 4/17/20 - still in Gulf Shores, AL
Alabama’s Governor Ivy finally issued the official Stay-at-home order yesterday to begin at 5 pm. However, it does not apply to some church situations, same as Florida and Georgia - which leaves a very confusing gray area for many. One Mega-church pastor was arrested in Florida for endangerment after thousands worshipped together.
While I believe that God is all-powerful and he WILL protect us, one of the ways he does this is by giving us intelligence and discernment, so as not to put ourselves in unnecessary danger. Just a few weeks ago, the message I watched on Facebook Live from my home church was about Jesus being tempted by the devil in the wilderness. When Satan suggested that Jesus throw himself down from a high place (because angels would surely come and save him), Jesus told him we are not to tempt God. There are many who MUST put their lives at risk to do their work of protecting and healing. Showy acts to prove that God is with us seem to diminish that sacrifice.
So, for now, we are limiting our contact with others. On my solo morning walks I see very few people. I view the beach from a distance and marvel at how nature moves on without us when I see the seagulls and wildflowers. We get take-out food to ease the boredom. AND I’m finally trying my hand at posting drawing videos on YouTube - something I’ve been wanting to do for years and now have all the time I need. If you’re interested you can find my channel @ Beth Cooper portraits. Subscribe. Grab a paper and pencil. Follow along. It’ll give you something to do, too.
God bless you. He will see us through.
